Taiwan, officielt Republikken Kina er et land i Østasien. Navnet Republikken Kina skyldes at regeringen i Taiwan har oprindelse i fastlandskina, hvor den fra 1912 til 1949 kontrollerede store dele af Kina. I dag kontrollerer den kun øen Taiwan, der udgør 99% af landets areal, samt Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu og andre småøer. Blandt nabolandene er Folkerepublikken Kina, Japan og Filippinerne. Taipei er hovedstaden og Taiwans økonomiske og kulturelle center mens New Taipei City er største by målt på befolkningstal.
